Job title: Junior Research Fellow

Compensation: ₹37000 (+ 20% HRA) consolidated.

Job description: To develop and integrate machine learning models into a data assimilation framework for improving the accuracy of extreme rainfall event forecasts.

We are seeking a curious and motivated individual to work on a time-bound, interdisciplinary R&D project funded by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The position is temporary, with an initial appointment of 12 months, extendable based on performance. The selected candidate will also be strongly encouraged to pursue a Ph.D. based on the project outcomes, under joint supervision of Dr. Srinivasa Ramanujam Kannan (IIT Bhubaneswar), Dr. Raju Attada (IISER Mohali), and Dr. Prashant Kumar (ISRO).

Key requirements:

• M.Tech in Thermal Science and Engineering or equivalent
• M.Tech in Atmospheric Sciences or equivalent
• M.Tech in Climate Sciences or equivalent.

Preferred skills:

• Basic working knowledge of numerical weather prediction models (such as WRF, etc).
• Basic working knowledge of machine learning tools in Python.
• Good working knowledge of Ubuntu or similar Linux platforms.
